Welcome to my new blog, BloomersbyBird which features my own hand crocheted patterns, the fledgling flying of a fresh spring beginning.

Spring has finally sprung.  Yes, indeed, Danville, Pa did experience 24" of snow on March 14, 2017 when Stella Snowflake decided to dress in a snow white gown and paint our town white.  My son and grandson came and shoveled my buried car out of its snowy tomb.  Soon the snow had melted into this present preferred warmer weather.

I have noticed the male finches are molting and will soon have shed their drab olive green feathers for a new look of bright, beautiful golden yellow.  My son attached a new blue bird house to my feeding tree and, hopefully, a pair might look it over and decide to rent it.

Over the cold winter months I put some donated yarn, I mean about five garbage-sized bags of yarn, to good use and crocheted 21 (so far) men's and ladies neck scarves for our church short-term mission teams.  They are nice long scarves in many colors.  As a special treat I added a crocheted flower to be pinned or tied to each ladies scarf.  They will go to Russia or, perhaps Haiti, which I understand does experience cold months.  I share this with you that you, too, might be encouraged to take up needles and create something that will warm the hearts of those less fortunate.

Now I am turning my talents into another project and plan to market some of my crochet items:  scarves, crochet flowers, jewelry, crochet patterns, and whatever comes to mind.

Happy Crocheting!
Kay (aka Bird)
